Hi I’m Scott and I would just like to let you know where I’m coming from and how I’ve got to where I am now.
I grew up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Canada, ya way up north compared to most of you. I took my early schooling in Prince Albert and then moved on to Saskatoon, an hour and a half south to attend the University of Saskatchewan. This is where I received a bachelors degree in Physical Education. I continued on to become a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology. I also obtained my Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
I grew up playing all kinds of athletics (hockey, baseball, volley ball, basketball, and badminton) , which seems to have lead me on the path I’ve been following and continue to follow to this day. I still play rec hockey and try to maintain an active lifestyle.
I have a beautiful wife and two young boys that fill my life with happiness and joy, and allow me to do what I do with support and understanding. I coach my boys hockey, baseball, and soccer teams which keeps me moving.
I am currently co-owner and Exercise Therapist at Hillside Physical Health and Fitness. This is where I train athletes, and your average everyday citizen looking to get fit and lose weight. I also rehabilitate injured workers and people that have been in a motor vehicle accident. I know through my experience and education I will be able to help you be the best hockey player you can be.
Why Hockey Strong?
Through my hockey coaching and strength and conditioning and through discussions with hockey players like yourself there seems to be a common thread. Hockey players need help with where to start with off ice training and hockey players need help getting stronger. So I decided that I would create this site and see if I can transfer some of my knowledge on to you. Hopefully through some guidance, together we can take your game to the next level.
Please feel free to subscribe to my newsletter Hockey Strong Insider which will bring off ice hockey training tips right to your inbox. You will also get access to a free training plan The Foundational 5 a tier 1 training plan for any player interested on making a tier 1, AA, or AAA team.
