In the forth edition of The Hockey Strong Power Play, I found an article about sagittal core work, thoughtful insight on how you might want your daughter or you for that matter thinking about working out, and also the Top 5 athletic qualities to train for every athlete.  Now time to dig in.

I was able to find a great article from James Cerbie over at Rebel Performance that goes a bit more in depth about the core in regards to the sagittal plane which applies to movement that divides the body from left to right sides.  It happens to be a two part series, yes remember I said in depth.  You may not be to interested in the anatomy of the core, however I do find it really helps tie everything together if you have that information.
